A History of EVP...

The Telegraph: The telegraph was invented in 1835, and by the late 1800s was being used world wide. Strange clicks were frequently heard along with messages seemingly coming from nowhere. However, the early operators of the telegraph lacked proper knowledge of the technology and these instances were often referred to as electrical phenomena and crossed lines. Further fuel was added to these claims with the invention of the wireless telegraph. With no wires to incase the electric impulses, it was easy to believe that these messages were just crossed wires. But could they have been some of the first electronic messages with the dead?more...

The Quality of EVP...

Class C: Faint, whispery voices which often fade in and out of audible range making it often hard to identify more than one or two words in a sentence.

Class B: Louder and clearer than Class C, but can still often fade in and out during words. One problem with Class B is that although you may be certain you hear one thing, another person may listen and hear something completely different.

Class A: This is the quality of voice all researcher want to get. The words are clear although sometimes there can still be a dispute over what is said.

EVP Examples...

Here is a collection of the EVPs recorded by members of the ISC team.
Side-note: When communicating between the spirit and real worlds it takes a lot of energy on the part of the spirit. When we think about this it is natural that it would. Spirits have no physical body and therefore nothing to create noise with. When communicating with spirits we are often more successful when there is a lot of background noise, whether that is natural such as running water or something like a static noise of a radio. This is because it gives the spirit something to mold their voice to. Again this is natural that it would be easier and less energy consuming as the spirit only needs to mold the noise which is already there as opposed to create and mold a noise. Although before uploading the EVPs to the website we try to cut out as much of this background noise as possible to make the voice clearer, we can only do so much without distorting the voice.

If you have a different opinion as to what any of the following EVPs say we would like to hear it. Please contact me at angela@iscutah.info and let me know what you think the EVP says and which one you are referring to. None of these EVPs are to be copied.

All EVPs are recorded in quiet situations and any noises during the recording are written down so that we don't mistakenly think they are spirit voices. EVPs are never recorded around animals so that we don't get a lot of noise from the animal on the recording which makes the bird and dog EVPs below all the more interesting.
